Tripper's Site
This site is under construction

Would you like to know more about building guitars from scratch? If so, drop me a line or check out my guitar building web page listed in the links below. The site has detailed steps explaining the process of building an electric solid-body guitar. There are also descriptions of the tools necessary for such a project and a breakdown of the various woods used in stringed instruments.

I am a native of Erie, Pennsylvania (That city where the Wonders were from-"That Thing You Do Movie") I am now a resident of sunny Southern California. I traveled across country with my beautiful wife to attend law school (not to mention, the music scene is a hell of a lot better!) I've been playing drums professionally for 16 years (alternative, punk, thrash, blues, jazz and even Spanish folk) and have now turn my attention to guitar playing and luthiery (building of guitars)

This is an aerial photo of Erie, PA. The view is of the Bayfront, Erie Bay, with Presque Isle and Lake Erie in the background
Here I am laying down drum tracks in a recording studio in Upper New York State. The studio was located just down the road from Attica State Prison. Unfortunately, there were no full-scale riots while we were there recording. I'm sure that would have added a whole new dimension to that album!

There's a picture of me playing my Tama drums during a recording session in upper state New York. It was a blast as always. I have recorded numerous times and toured (mostly the Eastern Seaboard) on a couple of occasions. I have been signed with Smog Veil Records and have a couple of national releases from them as well as several oversea releases too. As I said earlier, I have been playing drums for 16 years and have spent probably a quarter of that time in traction or receiving stiches from various drum-induced injuries. Now that I am getting older and the need to slow down has arrived (actually, I just can't afford the medical bills anymore) I have now turned my interests and attention towards the guitar.
I used to study musical theory (when I was knee high to a grasshopper!) so I am slowly going through the painful journey of learning chord progressions AGAIN! It was shortly after I started to study the guitar, that memories of helping an old roommate build guitars years ago popped back into my mind. Since I have an affinity for woodworking (sort of like Tim Allen) I quickly jumped into the books to see what I could learn about luthiery. (Since I'm a law student, reading the living snot out of a subject is now quite a normal thing to do.) After reading and studying about all there is to know (yea right) about luthiery, I decided it was time to embark on my own venture and build some guitars!
Now my wife sits on the couch and moans in pain as I excitely exclaim that once I'm done with this guitar, a Dreadnought, a semi-hollow electric body, a dulcimer, a mandolin and even a banjo is next on my things to do list. Meanwhile the new kitchen cabinets, the clogged sink, or replacing the tierods on my truck and of course, the infamous "bedroom needs painting" have all been put on the back shelf for now. All I can see now is my new guitar. So here's a piece of advice if you are thinking about building your own guitar, violin, mandolin, etc., watch out! It becomes addictive and you will soon find yourself deciding to work on your project in lieu of drinking an ice-cold beer, eating order-out pizza (not Digornio) and watching Jerry Springer reruns.
